Laura Dern joins 'Twin Peaks' revival

PASADENA, Calif., Jan. 10 (UPI) -- Laura Dern is reuniting with iconic director David Lynch for the upcoming Showtime revival of Twin Peaks, expected to premiere in the summer of 2017.

The series will star Twin Peaks veterans Kyle MacLachlan, Sheryl Lee and Sherilyn Fenn, as well as newcomers Robert Knepper, Balthazar Getty and Amanda Seyfried.

TVLine reported the latest casting news, but said details regarding Dern's character are being closely guarded.

Lynch and co-creator Mark Frost have written all of the episodes for the small-screen re-boot, with Lynch directing each installment. The original series ran for two seasons 1990-91. It was followed by the 1992 movie Twin Peaks: Fire Walk with Me.

Dern and Lynch previously worked together on Blue Velvet, Wild at Heart and Inland Empire.
