LOS ANGELES, Jan. 8 (UPI) -- Conan O'Brien has been keeping busy getting his comedy sitcom People of Earth ordered to series and starring in another YouTube hit alongside Kevin Hart and Ice Cube.

The new series, starring comedian Wyatt Cenac of The Daily Show fame, was picked up by O'Brien's late night partner TBS Thursday, the network announced during the Television Critics Association's winter press tour.

O'Brien, who is executive producing People of Earth along with his Conaco label and series creator and writer David Jenkins, focuses on skeptical journalist Ozzie Graham (Cenac) as he investigates a support group of individuals who claim to have come into contact with aliens.

"Having Greg Daniels executive produce and direct a project for us at such an early stage in the network's evolution is huge. His keen ability to assemble a brilliant ensemble cast has obviously worked well in the past," said Brett Weitz, executive vp original programming at TBS to The Hollywood Reporter.

"Since the launch of Conan, which has been a brand beacon for TBS for more than five years, we've been searching for just the right sophisticated and funny scripted comedy series to develop with our partners at Conaco," Weitz continued. "I believe we found that in this wonderfully original script by David Jenkins."

On Tuesday, O'Brien once again teamed up with stand up comic Kevin Hart and rapper Ice Cube to star in a comedy short in which the trio drive around Los Angeles with a student driver looking for a marijuana dispensary.

The video, which has already amassed over 12 million views, works as a semi-sequel to the groups previous sketch uploaded in 2013 in which they travel around Los Angeles with an Uber driver.
