LOS ANGELES, Jan. 4 (UPI) -- The CW has announced that Robbie Amell will be returning to the The Flash, but to reprise a different version of his character, Ronnie Raymond aka Firestorm.
Once the series returns from its mid-season break, Amell will be featured in a future episode as Ronnie Raymond of the alternate dimension Earth-Two where he has become the villainous Deathstorm.
"We are beyond excited to have Robbie back on The Flash," executive producer Andrew Kreisberg said to Entertainment Weekly. "You can't keep a good Firestorm down. Only this time, he's back with a twist, a deadly Earth-Two version of our beloved Ronnie in the form of Deathstorm."
Raymond will return alongside the Earth-Two version of his wife, series regular Caitlin Snow (Danielle Panabaker),who will appear as the deadly Killer Frost as seen in a recent promo announcing the show's return. Raymond was last seen during Season 2's premiere heroically sacrificing himself to save Central City.
In December, the network also announced that Mark Letscher would return as Eobard Thawne, aka the Reverse-Flash as well.
The Flash returns Jan. 19 at 8 p.m. ET on The CW.
