SEATTLE, Dec. 21 (UPI) -- The Man in the High Castle -- the most streamed original series in Amazon Prime history -- has been renewed for a second season.
Based on the alternate-history novel by Philip K. Dick, developed by Frank Spotnitz and executive produced by Scott Free Productions' Ridley Scott and David Zucker, along with Isa Dick Hackett, the show is available exclusively via the online service. It stars Alexa Davalos, Rupert Evans, DJ Qualls and Rufus Sewell.
"We're very proud of this outstanding series created by Frank Spotnitz, Scott Free and Isa Dick Hackett, which Amazon customers around the world have enthusiastically embraced, and we look forward to the second season," Roy Price, vice president of Amazon Studios, said in a statement Monday. "We hoped that once again bringing together the work of Philip K. Dick and the vision of Ridley Scott -- who brought us the classic film Blade Runner -- would help deliver on our promise of creating some of the best television in the world for Prime customers, and we believe that it has."
The Hollywood Reporter said Prime subscribers can also look forward to future seasons of Steven Soderbergh's Red Oaks, Ron Perlman's Hand of God and the animated Tumble Leaf. Upcoming series on the 2016 slate include Highston, One Mississippi, Z: The Beginning of Everything, Good Girls Revolt, Patriot, Danger & Eggs, If You Give a Mouse a Cookie and Niko and the Sword of Light.
Amazon orders programs based on viewer response to the shows' pilots.
