LOS ANGELES, Dec. 7 (UPI) -- Game of Thrones released its first Season 6 footage on Sunday.

HBO gave a short glimpse of the forthcoming season ahead of The Leftovers Season 2 finale. The video recaps the network's best film and TV of 2015 and previews the year to come.

The clip sees Emilia Clarke return as a battered Daenerys Targaryen following her apparent capture in Season 5. Ramsay Bolton (Iwan Rheon) is also seen ahorse, while Cersei Lannister (Lena Headey) is shown embracing son Tommen (Dean-Charles Chapman).

Game of Thrones recently sent fans into a frenzy by featuring Jon Snow (Kit Harington) on a Season 6 poster, and released a teaser with the character last week. The young Lord Commander of the Night's Watch was stabbed and left for dead on the Season 5 finale in June.

The series is based on the A Song of Ice and Fire book series by George R.R. Martin, and will return on HBO in April 2016. Maisie Williams co-stars as Arya Stark, with Peter Dinklage as Tyrion Lannister and Natalie Dormer as Margaery Tyrell.
