"I'm excited to be a part of such an iconic musical as Grease and to join a talented and cool cast," he added in a statement. "Just based on the music alone, I'm sure this is going to be the best live musical yet."

Julianne Hough and Aaron Tveit will lead the cast as Sandy Olsson and Danny Zuko, respectively, with Vanessa Hudgens as Betty Rizzo, Keke Palmer as Marty Maraschino, Carlos PenaVega as Kenickie and Carly Rae Jepsen as Frenchy.

Grease: Live will air in 2016. Lopez came to fame as A.J. Slater on NBC sitcom Saved By the Bell, and has since hosted or served as a judge on Dancing with the Stars, America's Best Dance Crew, The X Factor and Extra.
