'Set Fire to the Stars,' 'Jack to a King' each win three British Academy Cymru Awards

CARDIFF, Wales, Sept. 27 (UPI) -- The British Academy of Film and Television Arts in Wales presented Set Fire to the Stars and Jack to a King with three BAFTA Cymru Awards apiece Sunday.

The prizes recognize excellence in broadcasting and production within film and television in Wales.

Huw Stephens hosted the ceremony at St. David's Hall in Cardiff. Presenters included James Dean Bradfield, Lee Mead, Craig Roberts, Kimberley Nixon and Alexander Vlahos. The event featured performances by Amy Wadge and Only Men Aloud.

Set Fire to the Stars scored the trophies for Best Makeup and Hair, Best Production Design and Best Original Music.

Jack to a King earned the accolades for Best Director Factual, Best Sound and Best Editing.

Y Streic a Fi won in the Best Director Fiction and Best Television Drama categories.

A Poet in New York starring Tom Hollander as poet Dylan Thomas won the awards for Best Feature/Television Film, and Best Special and Visual Effects. Da Vinci's Demons -- featuring Tom Riley as artist Leonardo da Vinci -- won for Best Costume Design, and Best Photography and Lighting.

The award for Best Actor was presented to Richard Harrington for his performance in the police drama Y Gwyll/Hinterland, the Welsh-language series, which also earned the honor in the Best Titles and Graphic Identity category. Rhian Morgan was named Best Actress for her role in the teacher-themed program Gwaith/Cartref.

"As BAFTA Cymru enters its 25th year of celebrating and promoting the creative media industry here in Wales, we have been heartened to see such a breadth of content and talent on show at the British Academy Cymru Awards this evening," Hannah Raybould, director of BAFTA Cymru, said in a statement.
