LOS ANGELES, Sept. 22 (UPI) -- Kristen Bell read mean tweets live Monday on Jimmy Kimmel Live!

The 35-year-old actress and actors Benedict Cumberbatch and Jeff Bridges were the first celebrities to partake in the popular segment live on the late night talk show. The bit kicked off an entire week of 'Mean Tweets Live' on the ABC series.

"Kristen Bell seems like such a bitch, her vagina is probably an Alcatraz for penis," Bell read from @CUZNGEORGE before winking and walking off the stage.

Cumberbatch and Bridges also read random criticisms aloud, with the former's looks being compared to a "cat's anus" and Bridges being called a "crazy [expletive]" who probably shouts "at sparrows and sidewalks" like a "disturbed hobo."

Kimmel's wife and Jimmy Kimmel Live! writer Molly McNearney came up with 'Mean Tweets' in 2012. Actors Ashton Kutcher, Gary Oldman, Ethan Hawke and Julia Roberts are among the celebrities who have appeared on previous incarnations of the segment.

"The bit serves two purposes," McNearney told Entertainment Weekly last year. "One is to illustrate how terrible people are. And second, it's allowed celebrities to be self-deprecating, and I think it's funny to see these celebrities read terrible things about themselves."

Bell will return for season 5 of Showtime series House of Lies in 2016, and is also scheduled for The Boss with Melissa McCarthy. Cumberbatch is slated for Marvel film Doctor Strange with Rachel McAdams, while Bridges will star in Comancheria with Chris Pine.
