2015 Emmys: All eyes on host Andy Samberg, most nominated show 'Game of Thrones'

LOS ANGELES, Sept. 20 (UPI) -- The blood-soaked, medieval, fantasy-drama Game of Thrones goes into Sunday's main event for television with a leading 24 Primetime Emmy Award nominations.

Andy Samberg is hosting the ceremony, which will air live on FOX from the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles.

In the running for Outstanding Comedy Series are Louie, Modern Family, Parks & Recreation, Silicon Valley, Transparent, Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt and Veep.

Competing for Outstanding Drama Series are Better Call Saul, Downton Abbey, Game of Thrones, Homeland, House of Cards, Mad Men and Orange is the New Black.

Shortlisted for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series are Kyle Chandler for Bloodline, Jeff Daniels for The Newsroom, Jon Hamm for Mad Men, Bob Odenkirk for Better Call Saul, Liev Schreiber for Ray Donovan and Kevin Spacey for House of Cards.

Up for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series are Claire Danes for Homeland, Viola Davis for How to Get Away With Murder, Taraji P. Henson for Empire, Tatiana Maslany for Orphan Black, Elisabeth Moss for Mad Men and Robin Wright for House of Cards.

The nominees for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series are Anthony Anderson for black-ish, Louis C.K. for Louie, Don Cheadle for House of Lies, Will Forte for The Last Man on Earth, Matt LeBlanc for Episodes, William H. Macy for Shameless and Jeffrey Tambor for Transparent.

Vying for the Emmy for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series are Edie Falco for Nurse Jackie, Lisa Kudrow for The Comeback, Julia Louis-Dreyfus for Veep, Amy Poehler for Parks & Recreation, Amy Schumer for Inside Amy Schumer and Lily Tomlin for Grace and Frankie.

Among the presenters for the glitzy affair will be Adrien Brody, Mel Brooks, Reg E. Cathey, Joan Cusack, Viola Davis, Colin Hanks, Keegan-Michael Key, Zachary Levi, Margo Martindale, Ben McKenzie, Jordan Peele, Fred Savage, Eric Stonestreet and Bradley Whitford.
