Sarah Hyland, Nolan Gould recreate 'I Dream of Jeannie'

The classic sitcom had a five-season run from 1965 to 1970 on NBC.

LOS ANGELES, Sept. 17 (UPI) -- Sarah Hyland and Nolan Gould recently paid homage to I Dream of Jeannie.

The 24-year-old actress and 16-year-old actor dressed as Jeannie (Barbara Eden) and Major Anthony "Tony" Nelson (Larry Hagman) for The Hollywood Reporter's 100 Favorite TV Shows list. Hyland and Gould were among their Modern Family co-stars who posed for the magazine.

"It's so exciting because this is a show I grew up watching," the actress said of the classic NBC sitcom. "I watched it every morning and I just loved Jeannie so much. I loved her outfit and her positive attitude, so this is really cute."

I Dream of Jeannie ranked No. 6 on the list, while Modern Family came in at No. 14. Ed O'Neill revisited his former role as Al Bundy on Married with Children, which ranked No. 2, with Sofia Vergara as Peggy Bundy (Katey Sagal).

Other recreations include Julie Bowen as Mary Richards (Mary Tyler Moore) from The Mary Tyler Moore Show, which topped the list, Eric Stonestreet and Jesse Tyler Ferguson as Walter White (Bryan Branston) and Jesse Pinkman (Aaron Paul) from Breaking Bad, the No. 5 show.

Hyland and Gould have portrayed siblings Haley and Luke Dunphy, respectively, on Modern Family since the sitcom's premiere in 2009. The ABC series gives a humorous look at a suburban Los Angeles family, and will return for a seventh season Sept. 23.
