LONDON, Sept. 17 (UPI) -- Kit Harington all but confirmed his future with Game of Thrones in an interview earlier this month.

Fans of the HBO series were sent into a frenzy this week after a Reddit user translated the 28-year-old English actor's recent interview with Dutch magazine Humo. Harington has portrayed Jon Snow since the show's premiere in 2011, but appeared to die on the season 5 finale.

"I had to pass on amazing parts because I was attached to Game of Thrones," he revealed. "So the show is like a [double-edged] sword to me: I owe a lot to it, but at the same time it has almost completely drained me ... The important thing is that I now know exactly how long I am still under contract."

"I can't talk about [how long]," he qualified. "Let's just say that Game of Thrones will remain a part of my life for a while. I'll probably be in my thirties when it's over. One thing's for sure: the day I'm no longer on Thrones is the day I'll bury myself in a movie project."

Harington's co-stars, Emilia Clarke and Maisie Williams, previously addressed his potential return, with the former telling MTV News there's a 50/50 chance and Williams outright dismissing the idea to E! News. HBO programming president Michael Lombardo declared Jon Snow dead in July.

Game of Thrones is based on the A Song of Ice and Fire Book series by George R.R. Martin, and will return for season 6 in 2016. The show is known for its graphic violence and sex scenes, the latter of which Clarke said she "can't stand" in an interview this week.
