NEW YORK, Sept. 1 (UPI) -- Emily Blunt, Carol Burnett, Willie Nelson, Jake Gyllenhaal, Kevin Spacey and Naomi Watts have been booked for September appearances on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, CBS announced.

The 51-year-old, former Colbert Report star is taking over The Late Show from longtime host David Letterman. Colbert's first show will air Sept. 8.

Letterman, 68, retired in May after more than three decades in late-night television.

Scheduled to appear on the program during Colbert's first week are George Clooney, Jeb Bush, Amy Schumer and Stephen King.

In addition to Blunt, Burnett, Nelson, Gyllenhaal, Spacey and Watts, Colbert's guests for Sept. 14-18 will include Justice Stephen Breyer, comedians Abbi Jacobson and Ilana Glazer; United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-Moon, Oscar-winning actress Lupita Nyong'o and Sen. Bernie Sanders.
