SILVER SPRING, Md., Aug. 14 (UPI) -- TLC, the former home of Duggar family reality show 19 Kids and Counting has announced the release date for Breaking the Silence, a new child abuse documentary Thursday.

The documentary is a direct response to the recent child sex abuse scandal involving the Duggar family and one the star's of the show Josh Duggar. Back in May, reports surfaced that the 27-year-old had molested five underage girls including Jill and Jessa Duggar when he was a teenager.

"In light of recent events around 19 Kids and Counting -- and in an effort to promote education, raise awareness and advance the conversation on this important matter -- TLC has partnered with two of the nation's leading abuse prevention organizations, RAINN and Darkness to Light, on a new documentary addressing the issue," the network said in a statement.

Breaking the Silence will focus on those affected by child sexual abuse and share with viewers information about where people can turn for help. "The one-hour documentary is built around the personal and emotional stories of brave survivors who have found the courage to come forward," the network mentioned Thursday.

Among those being featured in the documentary are Jill and Jessa Duggar who have previously spoken up about dealing with the aftermath of being molested by brother Josh more than 10 years ago.

"My dad explained to us, he said, 'You don't know there's a difference between forgiveness and trust. that's not the same thing," Jill told Fox News' in a June interview. "You know, you forgive someone and then you have boundaries. Forgiveness with boundaries. Trust comes later. Josh destroyed that trust at the beginning, and so he had to rebuild that. I think when he came back, that was...the point of rebuilding."

19 Kids and Counting ran for 10 seasons on TLC before being cancelled in July.

Breaking the Silence will air commercial free August 30 on TLC.
