NEW YORK, Aug. 7 (UPI) -- Nicolle Wallace confirmed she is exiting ABC talk show The View on Thursday.

The 43-year-old political commentator emotionally addressed co-hosts Whoopi Goldberg, Raven-Symone and Michelle Collins on the program's final live episode before its summer hiatus.

"I never thought I would get this job in a million years," she admitted. "I was more surprised to get it than I would have been to not get it. I would have been more surprised if they had kept me around because I am the original political nerd."

"I have loved being a part of this table," she declared. "I have loved sitting in this chair. And it was never mine, but I'm lucky I got to occupy it for a little bit." Wallace then shared her love for her co-hosts, encouraging Raven-Symone to keep talking about politics.

Wallace joined the series in season 18 last year with actress Rosie Perez, who will also depart the show. The political commentator is said to have turned down an offer to remain as an occasional contributor to the program.

Goldberg, Raven-Symone and Collins will remain on the panel, with Candace Cameron Bure and Paula Faris rumored to join as co-hosts. Former co-host Sherri Shepherd will reportedly return to the series as a lead contributor.
