LOS ANGELES, July 16 (UPI) -- Mixed martial artist Ronda Rousey took home the prizes for Best Fighter and Best Female Athlete at the ESPY Awards ceremony in Los Angeles Wednesday night.
Stephen Curry also earned a pair of trophies for Best Male Athlete and Best NBA Player.
The World Cup-winning, U.S. women's soccer team was declared the Team of the Year.
Mike Trout received the Best MLB Player trophy, the Best NFL Player title went to Aaron Rodgers and Jonathan Toews earned the accolade for Best NHL Athlete. Kevin Harvick was named Best Driver and Victor Espinoza was declared Best Jockey. The Best Female and Male Golfer honors went to Lydia Ko and Jordan Spieth.
Community and The Soup star Joel McHale served as emcee of the ABC telecast. Presenters at the star-studded event included Ben Affleck, Halle Berry, Mike Epps, Jake Gyllenhaal, Ed Helms, LeBron James, Danica Patrick, Robin Roberts, Britney Spears, Kiefer Sutherland and Vince Vaughn.
The ESPY Awards bring together celebrities from sports and entertainment to commemorate the past year by "recognizing major sports achievements, reliving unforgettable moments and saluting the leading performers and performances," an ABC news release said.
