Betsy Ross to be played by Nikki Reed in Season 3 of 'Sleepy Hollow'

LOS ANGELES, July 15 (UPI) -- Twilight and Thirteen actress Nikki Reed is to play historical figure Betsy Ross in Season 3 of Sleepy Hollow.

"We are all very excited to welcome Nikki Reed into the world of Sleepy Hollow," co-creator/executive producer Len Wiseman told The Hollywood Reporter.

"Nikki's the perfect choice to bring a smart and sexy edge to our show's twisted version of American icon Betsy Ross."

The series is loosely based on Washington Irving's classic tale The Legend of Sleepy Hollow. Set in upstate New York, the supernatural drama follows 18th century soldier Ichabod Crane, played by Tom Mison, who rises from his grave in the 21st century and teams up with police detective Abbie Mills, played by Nicole Beharie, to battle evil.
