LOS ANGELES, June 1 (UPI) -- Kit Harington says his battle with the White Walkers on Sunday's episode of Game of Thrones was the most intense scene he's filmed for the show.

The 28-year-old English actor discussed the epic sequence in an interview with Access Hollywood on Monday.

"That was a month of shooting and it added up to 20 minutes on camera," he shared. "If you can imagine how much we had to get through with the big CGI elements, with the massive amounts of fight scenes to choreograph. It was the most intense thing I've ever done on the show."

The episode saw Jon Snow (Harington) and the Night's Watch team with Tormund Giantsbane (Kristofer Hivju) and the wildings in an attempt to defend Hardhome from the White Walkers and an army of wights. The settlement eventually falls and the remaining defenders are forced to flee.

"We shot less than a minute a day!" Harington told Entertainment Weekly. "Every fight I would shoot three times. [The Battle of Castle Black in] episode 9 last year was the hardest thing I've done. This was twice as hard as that. It was exhausting."

Harington has portrayed Jon Snow since the fantasy drama's premiere in 2011. The show is based on the A Song of Ice and Fire book series by George R.R. Martin, and currently in its fifth season. New episodes air Sundays at 9 p.m. ET on HBO.
