NEW YORK, May 21 (UPI) -- Sarah Michelle Gellar appeared to be feeling nostalgic as she posted on Instagram a montage of photos from her iconic horror dramedy series Buffy the Vampire Slayer.
"12 years ago, I said goodbye to a friend. It was an incredible journey that, I am so incredibly proud of," Gellar wrote. "Thank you all for joining me, and continuing to tell her story."
Created by Joss Whedon, the show ran for seven seasons from 1997 until 2003. It co-starred Alyson Hannigan, Nicholas Brendon, James Marsters, David Boreanaz, Seth Green, Eliza Dushku, Anthony Head and Charisma Carpenter.
The series was known for its sharp-witted dialogue and deft handling of issues real young adults faced. Gellar played the titular heroine, who along with her friends, saved the world from various demonic forces.
