NEW YORK, May 13 (UPI) -- Bradley Cooper is to play a recurring role on the new TV series based on his 2011 movie Limitless, CBS announced.

The network ordered the program for the 2015-16 television season. It will star Jake McDorman as Brian Finch, a man who "discovers the brain-boosting power of the mysterious drug NZT and is coerced by the FBI into using his extraordinary cognitive abilities to solve complex cases for them," press notes said.

Cooper will reprise his film role of Edward Mora, now a senator, a presidential hopeful and regular user of NZT, "who has plans of his own for his new protégé."

The show will co-star Jennifer Carpenter, Hill Harper and Mary Elizabeth Mastrantonio. The series' pilot was directed by Marc Webb, who previously helmed two volumes of The Amazing Spider-Man franchise.
