Co-executive producer and writer Matt Berry will serve as the season five showrunner following Tom Doyle's departure last week. Doyle himself replaced Kevin Abbott, who stepped in for series creator Jack Burditt.

Last Man Standing co-stars Nancy Travis as Mike's wife Vanessa, with Amanda Fuller, Molly Ephraim and Kaitlyn Dever as the couple's daughters Kristin, Mandy and Eve. Christoph Sanders, Hector Elizondo, Flynn Morrison, Jordan Masterson and Jonathan Adams also star.

Allen is best known for portraying Tim Taylor on Home Improvement, which ran for eight seasons on ABC. The actor voiced Buzz Lightyear in the Toy Story series of films and starred in The Santa Clause, Jungle 2 Jungle and Wild Hogs.
