"Written in a fit of youthful intoxication by legendary author turned director Eric Jonrosh [played by Will Ferrell,] The Spoils Before Dying is a debaucherous pulp-noir murder mystery set in the seedy underbelly of Los Angeles' jazz scene," a synopsis said. "It follows Rock Banyon [played by Michael Kenneth Williams] as he becomes the prime suspect in the double murder of his occasional lover Fresno Foxglove [played by Maya Rudolph] who is found dead with another man. Panicked, Rock splits for Mexico where he reunites with his one-time big band singer Delores DeWinter [played by Kristen Wiig.]"

"Banned around the world almost five decades ago, The Spoils Before Dying is a gritty and unrelenting tale of forbidden everything," IFC President Jennifer Caserta teased in a statement. "We may all wind up in jail, but this epic tale of sex, drugs, violence and jazz will be seen."
