'True Detective' releases first season two teaser

The series will return for a second season June 21 on HBO.

LOS ANGELES, April 9 (UPI) -- True Detective released a first season two teaser Thursday.

Colin Farrell stars as compromised detective Ray Velcoro, with Rachel Adams as ethical but troubled sheriff's detective Ani Bezzerides and Taylor Kitsch as war veteran motorcycle officer Paul Woodrugh. Vince Vaughn portrays career criminal Frank Seymon.

Season two takes place in California, and will see the characters thrown into a web of conspiracy after a murder. True Detective season one premiered on HBO in January 2014, with Matthew McConaughey, Woody Harrelson and Michelle Monaghan as stars.

True Detective writer and creator Nic Pizzolatto penned all eight season two episodes, while Fast & Furious director Justin Lin helmed the first two. The series will return Sunday, June 21 at 9 p.m. ET.
