NEW YORK, April 8 (UPI) -- Tuesday's episode of Person of Interest will be about a cold case connected to the show's late character, New York Police Detective Jocelyn Carter, CBS announced.

"Det. Carter returns! Can Reese solve the murder case she left behind?" the network tweeted.

"Reese finds himself on a perilous personal journey when he takes on a homicide case Detective Carter was never able to close," a separate news release teased.

Carter was played by Taraji P. Henson before her character was shot and killed in Season 3. She has since gone on to star in the drama series Empire.

CBS did not say if Henson would appear as a guest star for the POI flashback scenes or if she will be seen in previously taped footage.

Now in its fourth season, the show stars Jim Caviezel as former CIA black operations officer John Reese and Michael Emerson as billionaire software engineer Harold Finch.
