NEW YORK, March 6 (UPI) -- Olivia Colman, Tom Hollander and Elizabeth Debicki have joined the cast of the contemporary television adaptation of John le Carré's 1993 spy novel The Night Manager.

Susanne Bier is to direct the miniseries, starting this spring. It will co-star Hugh Laurie and Tom Hiddleston.

This will be the first small-screen adaptation of a le Carré novel in more than 20 years.

"The eagerly anticipated series follows former British soldier Jonathan Pine, who is recruited by an intelligence operative named Burr to navigate the shadowy recesses of Whitehall and Washington where an unholy alliance operates between the intelligence community and the secret arms trade," a news release said. "To infiltrate the inner circle of lethal arms dealer Richard Onslow Roper, which includes girlfriend Jed and an associate named Corcoran, Pine must himself become a criminal."

The Night Manager is being produced by The Ink Factory, BBC One and AMC for broadcast in 2016.
