NEW YORK, Feb. 3 (UPI) -- Charlie Cox stars in a first teaser for Daredevil.

The 32-year-old actor portrays the titular Marvel superhero, and declares he is trying to make New York City a safer place in the preview. Netflix will release a full-length trailer for the new series Wednesday.

In the Marvel comics, Matt Murdock becomes Daredevil after he is exposed to radioactive material. The substance blinds him but heightens his remaining senses, giving him superhuman accuracy, sensitivity and a radar sense.

Drew Goddard developed the program, which co-stars Deborah Ann Woll as Karen Page, Rosario Dawson as Claire Temple and Vincent D'Onofrio as Wilson Fisk/Kingpin. Season one will debut in its entirety April 10 on Netflix.

Cox is known for playing Owen Sleater on HBO drama Boardwalk Empire, and appeared in The Merchant of Venice, Casanova and Stardust. The actor will also star as Daredevil on Netflix miniseries The Defenders.
