Ellie Goulding, Nick Jonas join season eight of 'The Voice'

The NBC reality competition will return to television February 23.

LOS ANGELES, Jan. 21 (UPI) -- Ellie Goulding, Nick Jonas, Lionel Richie and Meghan Trainor have joined The Voice.

The four singers will act as mentors on season eight of the NBC reality competition. Goulding will assist Team Adam Levine, with Jonas on Team Christina Aguilera, Richie on Team Pharrell Williams and Trainor on Team Blake Shelton.

Season eight will premiere Feb. 23, and see Aguilera return as coach. The 34-year-old pop star took a leave of absence in season seven to welcome and care for daughter Summer Rain, and was temporarily replaced by Gwen Stefani.

Goulding released her second studio album, Halcyon, in October 2012. The record topped the U.K. Albums Chart, and the singer debuted new single "Love Me Like You Do" from the Fifty Shades of Grey soundtrack earlier this month.

Jonas is best known as a member of former boy band the Jonas Brothers, and released his second solo album, Nick Jonas, in November 2014. He currently stars as Nate Kulina on Audience Network series Kingdom.

Richie previously served as a mentor to Team Christina Aguilera on season two of The Voice. The 65-year-old soul star has sold more than 100 million records in his career, and last debuted Tuskegee in March 2012.

Trainor came to fame with hit single "All About That Bass" in June 2014, and subsequently released her first studio album, Title, earlier this month. She will kick off her That Bass Tour in Vancouver, Canada on Feb. 11.
