LOS ANGELES, Jan. 13 (UPI) -- Derek Hough will not appear on season 20 of Dancing with the Stars.

The 29-year-old professional dancer has competed on 14 seasons of the ABC reality competition and won a record five times. Hough is on hiatus from the program in order to star in New York Spring Spectacular with the Rockettes at Radio City Music Hall.

"I am ecstatic that I'll be able to extend my passion for performing," he said in a statement. "Performing at Radio City Music Hall in a show that celebrates everything that is beloved about New York City is a dream. I can't wait to show fans this production."

Fellow dancer Cheryl Burke will also not return for a new season. The 30-year-old competitor appeared on 18 seasons and won twice, but left to star on an upcoming NBC reality show. In addition, longtime judge Len Goodman will depart the series after season 20.

Dancing with the Stars is based on British program Strictly Come Dancing, and debuted in June 2005. Professional dancer Witney Carson and actor Alfonso Ribeiro won season 19 in November, and the program will return for season 20 in the spring.
