LOS ANGELES, Dec. 10 (UPI) -- Chevy Chase says he will return on season six of Community.
The 71-year-old actor claimed as much in a Reddit AMA forum Monday. Chase portrayed Pierce Hawthorne on four seasons of the NBC comedy, and quit the show after using a racial slur on set in 2012.
"I will be in a small cameo at the beginning of Community and if they ask me to come back and do one or two appearances, it's a possibility," he declared.
Chase was long vocal about his frustrations with the sitcom, and was venting about his character when he used the racial slur. He reportedly did not direct the word at African-American castmates Donald Glover and Yvette Nicole Brown, and apologized immediately.
Community debuted on NBC in Sept. 2009, and ran for five seasons before being canceled. The series was picked up for a 13-episode sixth season by Yahoo! Screen, and will air in 2015. Sony has denied Chase is confirmed for an appearance.
Chase is well known for his work with National Lampoon and Saturday Night Live. He and Beverly D'Angelo are scheduled to reprise Clark and Ellen Griswold for a reboot of National Lampoon's Vacation, and will co-star on a new ABC comedy series.
