Tommy Chong gets the boot in the 'Dancing with the Stars' semifinals

"I just showed that old stoners can perform when they need to," the 76-year-old entertainer quipped, upon hearing the news of his dismissal.

LOS ANGELES, Nov. 17 (UPI) -- Comedian Tommy Chong and his professional partner Peta Murgatroyd were eliminated in the Dancing with the Stars semifinals Monday night.

"I just showed that old stoners can perform when they need to," the 76-year-old entertainer quipped, upon hearing the news of his dismissal.

Going into next week's finals for the coveted mirrorball trophy -- along with their partners -- are Bethany Mota, Janel Parrish, Alfonso Ribeiro and Sadie Robertson.

The show kicked off its 19th edition Sept. 15, with Tom Bergeron and Erin Andrews returning as co-hosts and former DWTS pro Julianne Hough joining the judges' panel with fellow experts Len Goodman, Carrie Ann Inaba and Bruno Tonioli.
