People's Choice Award nominations revealed; winners to be announced Jan. 7

LOS ANGELES, Nov. 4 (UPI) -- Actress Shailene Woodley and singer Sam Smith led the list of People's Choice Award artist nominees Tuesday with four nods apiece.

Woodley is twice nominated for Favorite Movie Duo -- once with her Divergent co-star Theo James and again with her The Fault in Our Stars leading man Ansel Elgort. She is also up for Favorite Action Movie Actress and Favorite Dramatic Movie Actress.

Grey's Anatomy, Supernatural and The Vampire Diaries top the list of TV nominees with five nods each, while recording star Sam Smith dominates the music categories with four nominations, including Favorite Breakout Artist, Favorite Male Artist, Favorite Album and Favorite Song.

Up for Favorite Movie are 22 Jump Street, Captain America: The Winter Soldier, Guardians of the Galaxy, Maleficent and X-Men: Days of Future Past. Nominated for Favorite Movie Actor are Brad Pitt, Channing Tatum, Hugh Jackman, Mark Wahlberg and Robert Downey, Jr. Shortlisted for Favorite Movie Actress are Angelina Jolie, Emma Stone, Jennifer Lawrence, Melissa McCarthy and Scarlett Johansson.

In the running for Favorite TV Show are The Big Bang Theory, Game of Thrones, NCIS, Once Upon a Time and The Walking Dead.

Vying for Favorite Comedic TV Actor are Ashton Kutcher, Chris Colfer, Jesse Tyler Ferguson, Jim Parsons and Ty Burrell. The nominees for Favorite Comedic TV Actress are Amy Poehler, Kaley Cuoco-Sweeting, Melissa McCarthy, Sofia Vergara and Zooey Deschanel.

The contenders for Favorite Dramatic TV Actor are Dax Shepard, Jesse Williams, Justin Chambers, Patrick Dempsey and Taylor Kinney.

Mentioned for Favorite Dramatic TV Actress are Alyssa Milano, Ellen Pompeo, Emily VanCamp, Hayden Panettiere and Kerry Washington.

Nominated for Favorite Daytime TV Host(s) are Ellen DeGeneres, Kelly Ripa and Michael Strahan, Queen Latifah, Rachael Ray and Steve Harvey. Shortlisted for Favorite Late Night Talk Show Host are Conan O'Brien, Craig Ferguson, David Letterman, Jimmy Fallon and Jimmy Kimmel.

Up for Favorite Male Artist are Blake Shelton, Ed Sheeran, John Legend, Pharrell Williams and Sam Smith. The nominees for Favorite Female Artist are Beyonce, Iggy Azalea, Katy Perry, Sia and Taylor Swift.

Competing for Favorite Group are Coldplay, Imagine Dragons, Maroon 5, One Direction and OneRepublic. The nominees for Favorite Album are G I R L by Pharrell Williams, Ghost Stories by Coldplay, In the Lonely Hour by Sam Smith, My Everything by Ariana Grande and X by Ed Sheeran. The contenders for Favorite Song are "All About That Bass" by Meghan Trainor, "Bang Bang" by Jessie J, Ariana Grande and Nicki Minaj, "Maps" by Maroon 5, "Shake It Off" by Taylor Swift and "Stay with Me" by Sam Smith.

Online voting began Tuesday and will remain open until Dec. 4. Winners will be revealed during the live broadcast of the People's Choice Awards ceremony in Los Angeles Jan. 7.
