NEW YORK, Nov. 3 (UPI) -- AMC and DirecTV took their contract dispute to the airwaves, running opposing ads during commercial breaks for Sunday night's nail-biter of an episode of The Walking Dead.

"Attention, satellite customer: You are at risk of losing AMC and The Walking Dead," the network said in its TV spot, which featured the zombie apocalypse show's characters appearing to be horrified by the news.

As the screen goes black for an instant, AMC warned: "That is what AMC will look like in your home if AMC is dropped from your provider's lineup. This means you may miss all-new episodes of The Walking Dead. Call 855-KEEPAMC or visit KEEPAMC.com. ... Be direct and tell them to keep AMC. ... Make your voice heard."

The satellite provider fired back at the network with spots showing an animated walker wearing an AMC T-shirt.

"Attention, zombie lovers: Don't let AMC scare you! As a DirecTV customer you will not miss any of this year's new season of The Walking Dead," the company promised. "We apologize for AMC Networks' needlessly attempting to frighten you. AMC is contractually obligated to provide you programming for several more months, at which point, we intend to renew our AMC partnership at a price that is fair to our customers. It really is a no-brainer."

The satellite provider then directed subscribers to DIRECTVPROMISE.com for more information.
