NEW YORK, Sept. 25 (UPI) -- Erica Mena says fiancé Bow Wow will not appear on the fifth season of Love & Hip Hop.

The 26-year-old has starred on three seasons of the VH1 reality series, but told TMZ she wants to keep her relationship out of the spotlight. Mena said news of Amber Rose and Wiz Khalifa's divorce only reaffirmed her feelings on the matter.

"[Rose's divorce] helps me realize that when you're in the spotlight, you have to protect what's yours so much more than the average person," Mena related. "And I think that's why a lot of people will be surprised to know that my fiancé won't be on Love & Hip Hip."

"I'm just pro-saving what's mine and keeping it away from the world," she shared. "When it's time -- right situation, right whatever -- maybe we'll consider it, but I really want to protect this one. This one is like everything I need, everything I want, he's my world. Sometimes you can't really show the world your world."

Mena and Bow Wow have been together for six months, and announced their engagement at the 2014 BET Hip-Hop Awards on Saturday. Production on season five of Love & Hip Hop will begin in late 2014.
