WASHINGTON, Sept. 5 (UPI) -- Veteran newsman for CBS and CNN, Bruce Morton died at his home in Washington, D.C. on Friday, CBS News said. He was 83.
Morton called CBS News home for 29 years, from 1964 to 1993. During that time he was covered Congress and anchored the "CBS Morning News" during the 1970's. After his time at CBS, Morton worked at CNN as a national correspondent until he retired in 2006.

He covered many stories during his time, including the assassinations of Robert F. Kennedy and Rev. Martin Luther King, Jr.
Morton's family said a memorial service will be held sometime in the future in Washington, D.C. where Morton had called home since 1964.
