Charles Keating, soap star, dies at 72

British soap opera star Charles Keating dies after a illness at age 72.

NEW YORK, Aug. 10 (UPI) -- Daytime soap actor Charles Keating died after a fight with cancer. He was 72.

The Daytime Emmy winner was a long-time soap opera star, appearing in NBC's Another World and ABC's All My Children and Port Charles.

The Briton's acting career began on the stage with the Royal Shakespeare Company. His first television gigs included Life and Death of Penelope, Crown Court and Brideshead Revisted.

In film, Keating had roles in Awakenings and The Bodyguard.

He was survived by his wife, Mary, and two sons.
