Kerry Washington 'anxious' to be on red carpet after having baby [PHOTOS]

LOS ANGELES, June 14 (UPI) -- She was only out of the limelight for a few months, but Kerry Washington said she felt "anxious" about her first public appearance since giving birth to her daughter.

The Scandal star gave birth to her first child, daughter Isabella, in April and has pretty much kept a low profile since then.

But on Wednesday she put on a fancy dress and stepped on the red carpet for the Crystal + Lucy Awards, where she received the Lucy Award for excellence in television.

Washington told E! News she a little nervous about being out in public again.

"I was anxious about being on the carpet," she said.

"Yesterday was like my fist time being back in the game and I was so nervous. It was like the first day of school nervous. But I missed our gladiators and all the social media and you guys and all the photographers."

Washington is due to return to filming for Season 4 of Scandal soon.
