LOS ANGELES, May 21 (UPI) -- Jessica Chastain will not join the cast of True Detective.
Rumors started to swirl on Tuesday after Nerdist reported the 37-year-old actress had been offered a lead role in the series. A rep for Chastain has spoken to E! News to deny the claim, a sentiment echoed by True Detective network HBO.
Show creator Nic Pizzolatto hinted in March that women play a larger role in the upcoming second season. Chastain is no stranger to strong female characters, and many fans were excited by the prospect of her joining the series.
The actress is slated to appear in a number of films in 2014 and 2015. Interstellar, A Most Violent Year and Blonde are just some of the projects she is currently involved in.
