"I was about 8 to 10 weeks along when I miscarried," Missy shares with the public for the first time. "Just enough time to be excited about it and start telling everyone."

The wife and mother became pregnant in 2002 after sons Reed and Cole had already been born. The pregnancy turned out to be ectopic.

"I'd heard of tubal pregnancies for years, but didn't really understand the mental anguish of actually having to go in and have someone remove what could've been your child," she recalls. "It was extremely difficult, and there was a lot of pain and bleeding."

"I was only 30 when that happened and I thought, 'Wait a minute, does this mean it's over for me?'" she continues. Missy says she managed to pull through with "a lot of prayer and a lot of family," and became pregnant again with daughter Mia three months after the miscarriage.

Mia, now 11, was born with a cleft lip, and has undergone 5 corrective surgeries. Father Jase says he's just thankful his daughter is alive.

"Life's a gift," he says. "As long as we're living, we can get through anything."
