LOS ANGELES, Feb. 10 (UPI) -- Production began Monday in Los Angeles on "Extant," the new summer series starring Oscar-winning actress Halle Berry.
Allen Coulter is directing the first episode of the drama, which is being produced by Steven Spielberg's Amblin Television and CBS Television Studios.
Set for a July 2 premiere, "Extant" is a mystery thriller about a female astronaut trying to reconnect with her family after returning from a year in outer space. It will co-star Camryn Manheim, Goran Visnjic, Grace Gummer, Michael O'Neill, Pierce Gagnon and Hiroyuki Sanada.
