LOS ANGELES, Feb. 4 (UPI) -- TBS says it has ordered eight hourlong episodes of a U.S. comedy competition series with Marlon Wayans to serve as host.

Wayans, along with some of his comedian friends and famous family members, will set out to find the funniest comedian on the program, scheduled to air this summer.

"On 'Funniest Wins,'' the goal is simple: Make people laugh, or go home," TBS said in a news release. "The new series will open with a group of comedic competitors of various types, including both professionals and amateurs. Each week, guided by Marlon Wayans and a rotating crew of guests, these competitors will learn the ins and outs of a particular comedy style. They will then put what they've learned to the test in that week's main competition. At the end of each round, the field of competitors will narrow as one comic is sent packing."

The winner will receive a cash prize and the chance to star in an online series for Wayans' website WhatTheFunny.com.

The amount of the prize wasn't specified.
