LOS ANGELES, Jan. 16 (UPI) -- Oscar-winning actress Shirley Jones is to guest star on the upstate New York-set soap opera "General Hospital" next month, TVGuide.com reported Thursday.

Jones will play Mrs. McClain, a lonely widow who sees something strange and disconcerting while visiting her husband's grave, in the Feb. 5 episode.

An ABC Soap representative told the magazine the character "comes across a suspicious gravedigger late one night at the cemetery and takes her suspicions to Dante Falconeri [played by Dominic Zamprogna] at the Port Charles Police Department, thinking this might have something to do with the fugitive the police are looking for."

Jones is best known for her work in the films "Oklahoma!," "Carousel," "The Music Man" and "Elmer Gantry." She also has guest starred on the daytime drama "Days of Our Lives."
