'Newsroom' to wrap up after three seasons

LOS ANGELES, Jan. 13 (UPI) -- HBO says it has renewed "The Newsroom," its New York-set valentine to cable television journalism, for a third and final season.

Created by writer-producer Aaron Sorkin, the show stars Jeff Daniels, Emily Mortimer, Sam Waterston, Olivia Munn, Alison Pill and Jane Fonda.

The Hollywood Reporter said the last episodes of the series are to air this fall.

Paul Lieberstein, the former show-runner of "The Office," is to join the creative team as an executive producer for the show's final season, the entertainment industry trade newspaper said.
