NEW YORK, Jan. 8 (UPI) -- Jon and Kate Gosselin's 13-year-old twins say their Pennsylvania reality show family isn't "messed up," despite what some detractors have said.

The couple, the twins and the girls' sextuplet siblings, now 9, starred on "Jon & Kate Plus 8" for several seasons before Jon and Kate split up and the series became "Kate Plus 8." The show was canceled in 2011.

"People expect us to be damaged," Cara Gosselin, 13, told People.com.

"People think we're supposed to be messed up, like, 'Oooooh, the poor Gosselin kids, they're going to be scarred for life, waaaaah.' Here's the big news: We're not messed up," Cara's twin sister Mady added.
