Meredith Baxter marries Nancy Locke in LA

LOS ANGELES, Dec. 9 (UPI) -- Actress Meredith Baxter has married contractor Nancy Locke in Los Angeles after seven years of dating, People.com reported.

Friends and Baxter's five adult children attended Sunday's ceremony, during which the couple exchanged vows they wrote themselves, the report said.

"Now I understand why marriage caught on!" Baxter told the celebrity magazine after the service.

The 66-year-old actress is best known for her work on the classic sitcom "Family Ties."
