NEW YORK, Nov. 26 (UPI) -- MSNBC has fired Alec Baldwin and canceled his weekly chat show, "Up Late with Alec Baldwin," because of his abusive behavior, the New York Post said Tuesday.

"The decision has been made. He's gone," an insider at the cable network told the newspaper. "The [parent company] Comcast guys have decided. Word is spreading through the building."

Baldwin's dismissal was the result of his diva-like behavior in the studio and his nasty attitude toward co-workers, as well as a high-profile incident in which he hurled a gay slur at a photographer he said was harassing him on a Manhattan street, the report said.
