BBC America orders new show 'Intruders'

NEW YORK, Oct. 18 (UPI) -- BBC America says it has ordered eight episodes of a new original thriller series called "Intruders," based on Michael Marshall Smith's novel.

Writer-producer Glen Morgan has penned the script for the pilot of the show about a secret society devoted to chasing immortality by seeking refuge in the bodies of others.

The program is set to begin production in early spring and will be distributed internationally by BBC Worldwide.

No casting has been announced yet.

"'Intruders' features an imaginative premise that fits perfectly with BBC America's signature block of complex and otherworldly dramas led by 'Doctor Who' and 'Orphan Black,'" Perry Simon, BBC America's general manager, said in a statement Friday.

"I am excited to be working with [producers] Jane Tranter and Julie Gardner who have been so groundbreaking in this genre across both sides of the Atlantic, and I am delighted BBC America has green-lit 'Intruders' to series," Morgan said.
