LOS ANGELES, Oct. 16 (UPI) -- Janney "Chiquis" Marin, the daughter of the late entertainer Jenni Rivera, told "Azteca America" rumors she had an affair with her stepfather are untrue.
Marin, 28, said in a Tuesday interview her mother had kicked her out of their home and they were not on speaking terms at the time of Rivera's death in a December 2012 plane crash at the age of 43, UsMagazine.com reported.
"The world and my family lost Jenni on Dec. 9. I lost my mother two months before on Oct. 2. It was a misunderstanding," Marin said. "My world ended that day."
Marin said Rivera filed for divorce from her third husband, former professional baseball player Esteban Loaiza, a day earlier, claiming he had engaged in a sexual relationship with Marin.
"I don't understand how the rumor got started; this horrible thing that has caused so much suffering," Marin told "Azteca America."
"[Loaiza] has always been very respectful towards me and me with him," she said. "There were so many people filling her head with things. If there's a problem with someone you should ask them directly, and that's something she didn't do.
"To this day, my mother, in her heart, thinks I had something with Esteban. ... Every day I have to live with this, no one knows the pain I carry, especially because it was a misunderstanding. There were so many people in the middle that caused so much pain, so many problems that it was impossible not to be upset."
