Hasselbeck follows in Vieira's footsteps, will host wake up show

PROVIDENCE, R.I., Sept. 16 (UPI) -- Elisabeth Hasselbeck said she is happy to follow in Meredith Vieira's footsteps and begin a new stint on wake up TV's "Fox & Friends."

Hasselbeck, who like Vieira co-hosted "The View," will join the Fox News show Monday, the Providence (R.I.) Journal reported.

Vieira, who left the show for "Today" has given advice to Hasselbeck, she said.

"The women in the industry are good at sticking together," she said. "I lean on their wisdom."

Hasselbeck and Vieira are both from Rhode Island and attended all-girls schools.

The move will mark a change of pace for Hasselbeck, as "Fox & Friends" goes on the air at 6 a.m. and runs three hours a day, while "The View" started at 11 a.m. and was on just for an hour.

She will host the Fox News' show with Steve Doocy and Brian Kilmeade, said the Journal, whose original story can be found at tinyurl.com/Hasselbeck-Fox-Friends.
