NEW YORK, Aug. 27 (UPI) -- U.S. singer-actress Miley Cyrus is bragging about the attention she received through social media for her raunchy 2013 MTV Video Music Awards performance.

UsMagazine.com said the 20-year-old former "Hannah Montana" star set a record on Twitter after people offered their mixed reactions to the performance of her hit "We Can't Stop" and her "Blurred Lines" duet with Robin Thicke at Brooklyn's Barclays Center Sunday night.

Cyrus was seen scantily clad, grinding against Thicke in a suggestive manner and making vulgar gestures with a foam finger throughout the performance.

"Smilers! My VMA performance had 306,000 tweets per minute," Cyrus tweeted Monday. "That's more than the blackout or Superbowl! #fact."
