'Dancing with the Stars' cast to be announced on 'GMA'

NEW YORK, Aug. 8 (UPI) -- The cast of the next edition of "Dancing with the Stars" will be announced Sept. 4 on "Good Morning America," ABC announced Thursday.

The dance competition show is to return for its 17th season with a new one-night, 2-hour format Sept. 16.

"The competition begins with 12 new celebrities who will brave the dance floor for their very first time," the network said in a news release.

"Each week these celebrities will leave their comfort zones and endure hours of grueling rehearsals to master technical choreography and entertaining performances. In the end, only one star will rise above the rest to be crowned champion and win the coveted mirror-ball trophy."

Tom Bergeron and Brooke Burke-Charvet are to return as hosts of the show.
