SAN DIEGO, July 22 (UPI) -- A video shown at San Diego Comic-Con tells more about the siblings listening to the long story of how their parents came together on "How I Met Your Mother."

The tale will come to an end next year when the sitcom wraps up its ninth and final season.

To promote the fresh run of episodes, CBS played a video featuring "HIMYM" cast members Lyndsy Fonseca and David Henrie Saturday for fans at Comic-Con.

The expletive-ridden clip showed the now-adult brother and sister rebelling because, they said, they have given up their own lives for eight years to sit on a couch and listen to their father detail their family's origins story.

Executive producer Craig Thomas said in a statement the video is intended to explain what the kids do off-screen when the story is unfolding elsewhere.

"This video took eight years to make," Thomas said. "But as we start to answer all of the remaining mysteries of 'How I Met Your Mother,' we just knew that this was one question that we had to answer."

Season 9 of "How I Met Your Mother" is to debut Sept. 23. The show stars Josh Radnor, Jason Segel, Cobie Smulders, Neil Patrick Harris and Alyson Hannigan.
